It was a night filled with joy and lively networking, as a turnout of around 45 WAGBA members and friends convened at the bejewelled plaza ballroom at Hyatt Regency, East Perth. WAGBA’s New Financial Year Dinner provided all attending guests with ties to Western Australian and/or to German businesses and culture another amazing networking opportunity, as they indulged themselves with welcome drinks before the commencement of the event.

All WAGBA members and friends as well as the guests of honour, the Leader of the WA Liberal Party Ms. Libby Mettam MLA, the former Honorary Consuls of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr Bill Hassell AM, and Mr. Torsten Ketelsen OAM were warmly welcomed by WAGBA President Stephan W Kirsch. Following her introduction Ms. Libby Mettam MLA was graciously invited to give short speech. During her address, Libby engaged the audience with an update about developments within the Liberal Party and the elaborate relationship between businesses and parliamentarians in Western Australia. She also underscored WAGBA's vital role within the state and the local multicultural community and highlighted the opportunities that lie ahead for Western Australia as the country advances toward renewable energy in an increasingly resource-conscious global landscape.

The guest speaker of the event, Ian Knox, was invited to deliver his keynote presentation about Energy Procurement & Management. With an extensive background in energy advisory and the distinction of being voted "Australian Energy Manager of the Year" in 1989, Ian delivered a most competent and interesting overview of electricity purchasing in WA. During his exceptionally insightful presentation, Ian delved into various topics, including the intricate dynamics of energy markets, emphasizing the unique characteristics of the energy industry in Western Australia. He also shed light on complex role of renewables on energy consumption for businesses. Adding depth to the dialogue was an engaging Q&A session, during which guests posed thought-provoking questions, further deepening their understanding of energy management in today's dynamic landscape.

Throughout the rest of the night, attendees actively participated in an enjoyable networking session, as they relished in a sumptuous three-course meal paired with exquisite wines thoughtfully curated by the Hyatt. It undeniably turned out to be a most enjoyable event for all present, who left the venue carrying precious memories and expanded professional networks with them.

WAGBA would like to extend its appreciation to all the esteemed guests of honour, dedicated members, and supportive friends for their invaluable contributions in making this event an outstanding success. Your presence and active participation truly elevated the evening and added to its success.

We look forward to seeing you at our next dinner event which is the annual “WAGBA White Asparagus Dinner” on 25 October at the Juniper & Bay restaurant in South Perth!
