WAGBA's Final Soiree at the Hyatt Regency
It was an evening brimming with joy and vibrant networking as many WAGBA members and friends gathered at the elegant Private Dining Suite of Gershwin’s at The Hyatt Regency for WAGBA’s End of Financial Year Dinner. The dinner presented an amazing networking opportunity within a relaxed setting to all attending guests with ties to the association, as they indulged themselves with wines and beverages in the stunning circular Gershwin’s Wine Room before the commencement of the dinner. The event was also graced by attending guests of honour Bill Hassell AM (former President of WAGBA, former WA Minister and former Leader of Opposition), the Hon. Dr. Mike Nahan (former WA Treasurer and former Leader of Opposition), and Dr. Gabriele Maluga (Honorary Consul of Germany).
The dinner commenced with a warm welcome and introduction by WAGBA President Stephan W Kirsch, who expressed his regret at the news of The Hyatt Regency’s impending closure in August. Liberal Senator Dean Smith, was invited to deliver his keynote presentation on “The Economy – What to expect in the Financial Year 2024/2025”. As the member of the federal Coalition’s Shadow Economic Team, as well as being awarded the McKinnon Prize in Political Leadership in 2018 by a panel of eminent Australians, including John Howard and Julia Gillard, Senator Smith brings extensive policy experience to his role in the Senate, having worked as Policy Advisor to both the Western Australian Premier Richard Court and Prime Minister John Howard.
Opening his keynote speech with a charming introduction, the Senator delved into some of the contentious topics currently shaping Australian politics, including productivity, immigration and housing challenges, and the complexities surrounding nuclear energy. The attendees were also encouraged to participate in the discussion, as the keynote speech sparked engaging discourse from the floor.
Following the keynote speech, guests enjoyed a delightful networking session, mingling throughout the room as they savoured a sumptuous three-course meal complemented by carefully selected wines curated by The Hyatt. It undeniably turned out to be a remarkable and unforgettable night for all present as guests departed from the event.
WAGBA would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation to all esteemed guests of honour, dedicated members, and supportive friends of WAGBA for their invaluable contributions in making this event an outstanding success. Your presence and active participation truly elevated the evening and added to its resounding triumph. We look forward to seeing you at our next event, the "WAGBA White Asparagus Dinner” in October!
