WAGBA’s annual Maytoberfest, was held on the 27th May at the contemporary Sentinel Bar & Grill, located at St. George’s Terrace in the heart of Perth’s CBD on a chilly but mild night. Maytoberfest this year was held as an international alliance with participation from the French, Germans, Austrians and Australians, as the event was co-hosted with the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FACCI). WAGBA was also very delighted to have welcomed Christine Caseris, Founder and Vice President of FACCI, and Arnaud Couvreur, Head of WA Chapter to join in on WAGBA’s night of Bavarian cheer.

The event was held with much success, amassing some 90 WAGBA members and friends in attendance to support the event – including Torsten Ketelsen OAM, former Honorary Consuls of the Federal Republic of Germany, and Wilfred Wimmler, Honorary Consul of Austria – who were both warmly welcomed by WAGBA President Stephan W Kirsch in his opening speech.

The event, held to the emulate festive spirit of Oktoberfest in the month of May, provided a unique opportunity for attendees to expand their networks and meet new people in an informal setting, allowing for personal connections to be made and fostering the sense of community within WAGBA. In true German fashion, guests were treated to some beer and servings of bratwursts, adding to the cheerful and convivial atmosphere. Following the event, Michael Warneke, WAGBA Vice President Members, shared on LinkedIn: “Another beautiful Maytoberfest from WAGBA. Good networking...”, replied by WAGBA Secretary Ian Laws — “German beer, sausages — what more could you want?”

The success of Maytoberfest is a reflection to the dedication and hard work of the WAGBA community, and the association extends its heartfelt gratitude to all attendees and sponsors, as well as Sentinel Bar and Grill, who helped make Maytoberfest a remarkable success. The continued support of the WAGBA community is a testament to the strong bonds and shared values that underpin this vibrant organization.

As WAGBA understands the value of these social networking events, the association looks forward to hosting more such events in the future, creating opportunities for members and friends to continue building strong connections and making a positive impact within both the German and the Australian business community in Western Australia.
