The Parliamentary Friends of Germany group reconvened again on the 15th of November 2022 for its first meeting since Covid 19 restrictions were lifted. The format originated from the “West Australian-German Enduring Friendship” initiative which was initiated by the former Honorary Consul of Germany Torsten Ketelsen OAM in 2019.

On the 19th of December, members and friends gathered together to celebrate the joyous occasion of the WAGBA 2022 Christmas Party. Traditionally held at the gardens of Torsten and Mona Ketelsen for more than 10 years, the event has proven itself to be very popular amongst members and friends of WAGBA due to its personal atmosphere, beautiful setup, and unique individual touch by the Ketelsens.

The most recent WAGBA Business Forum was held on the 27th of October at the MTU Maintenance Service Centre Australia Pty. Ltd. in Canning Vale, Western Australia. The event was held with great success as MTU Managing Director, Sebastian Moerl, presented the future of aero engines and industrial gas turbines and MTU's works towards the revolutionary vision of emissions-free flights.

On the 5th of October the “Spring-Lamb-Dinner” of the West Australian – German Business Association was hosted yet again at the Juniper & Bay restaurant in Como/Perth, Western Australia. It was attended by some 50 WAGBA members and friends. The dinner presented all attending guests and industry leaders with ties to Western Australian-German business an amazing networking opportunity, as they indulged themselves with an excellent selection of food and matching wines presented by the stylish restaurant Juniper & Bay.

Cultivating students' passion for the German language
The “DAS Exam” (Deutsch Australisches Sprach Examen) has been offered to students for around 60 years. The initiative was initially created for high school students, but these days it is also offered to Years Five and Six. The award ceremony of “DAS Exam” is typically held annually to celebrate the most successful students.
